It’s Ok To Have Me Time

So you get home from work, and you are met at the door with screams of, “MOM” and everyone is waiting to tell you about their day.  You are tired, but you smile and ask all the right questions, and now it time to unwind, and deflate from your day.  How do you get your time, and should you feel guilty for wanting it?

If you are like me, you like to unwind after a long day at work.  You deserve it.  You have put up with all the issues at work, and now you are bombarded with all the home issues. There are many ways that you can approach your evening, two main ones are:

  1. Deal with their issues as soon as you get in, then send them away and relax OR
  2. Unwind first, then come back to them and deal with the home issues

I like option number one, as when I am finished, I am finished.  I send them to bed, and then I can relax, without the constant interruption.

Remember you need time for you, you need to rejuvenate and replenish your energy.  Don’t feel guilty.  Send them to bed, give them some books to read, whatever it is.  Get them to give you your space.
